  • Item description
  • Parents are entitled to know their teachers' qualifications. All schools receiving Title I support (Alden and Chandler), as outlined in the (formerly NCLB) ESSA federal laws, are supposed to notify parents on a yearly basis of their rights in this regard. Here's a website with more details and actionable suggestions (https://www.wrightslaw.com/info/nclb.parent.right.know.htm) but you can also start here:

    1. Email Beth Wilcox, Asst Superintendent and Title I Director, about when the notification is typically sent out via letter, and how you can access these credentials. Her email is ewilcox@duxbury.k12.ma.us.

    2. Email your child's team chair (if you don't know who this is, ask) and ask for your child's team credentials.

Here is a sample letter you can use if you need content guidance: https://www.wrightslaw.com/info/nclb.ltr.teacher.qual.pdf

CC the Director of Special Ed (or in absence of one, the Superintendent).
